Renaissance (1400-1500): Anatomical drawing
Article Abstract:
Modern day medical science has been assisted by the work carried out by Italy's most famous thinker, Leonardo da Vinci, who lived from 1452 until 1519. Leonardo combined his love of drawing and science to further the cause of human anatomical research, converting his findings into beautifully crafted works of art. Observations of dead bodies helped Leonardo build up a complete library of the human body, including muscle and bone structure. Modern day surgeons have the benefit of computers to allow them further exploration of the human body.

A question of balance
Article Abstract:
A survey of UK health and safety officers found one the major causes of concern was the high numbers of accidents associated with falling or tripping in the workplace. More than 25,800 people reported falling, slipping or tripping to the Health and Safety Executive from 1998 to 1999, with three people actually dying from injuries received during a fall. The Safe Step campaign is being launched by site safety specialist firm ROCOL, with the aim of making more people aware of the dangers associated with falling at work.

Middle Ages I (500-100AD): stained glass
Article Abstract:
The use of decorative stained glass is making a come back in modern times, although its origins can be traced back to the Middle Ages, when it was used extensively in church windows. Many church window designs were placed in a high position, as a gift to be looked at by God rather than to be viewed by church-goers. Lead poisoning and severe cuts are some of the accidents or illnesses which may be encountered when producing stained glass materials.
