Reproductive characteristics and the age at inception of the perimenopause in a British national cohort

Article Abstract:

Certain physiological factors may influence the onset of menopause. Researchers tested the theory of depleted oocytes determining menopause by surveying 1,166 British women. Women without children and women who had one ovary removed tended to reach menopause earlier. Short menstrual cycles and having started menarche early also contributed to the earlier onset of menopause, whereas oral contraceptive use had no effect. The median estimated age at perimenopause in this group was 48 years.

Hypertension, antihypertensive medication use, and risk of renal cell carcinoma

Article Abstract:

High blood pressure may increase the risk of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in men and women. Researchers found an association between hypertension and subsequent RCC independent of the use of diuretics and other antihypertensive medications. Hypertension burdens the blood flow to the kidney and related aspects of physiology considerably.
