Oral leukotriene-receptor antagonist plus as-needed rescue albuterol

Article Abstract:

The choice of as-needed controller therapy for asthma patient to reduce the side effect of inhaled corticosteroids is suggested. The patient was recommended to regularly use leukotriene modifiers, as it would reduce the degree of exercise-induced bronchospasm without tachyphylaxis or concerns related to the use of long-acting beta-agonists alone.

Treatment of mild persistent asthma

Article Abstract:

A case sketch about a 30-year-old woman with a lifelong history of asthma, from her late teens and reported to have shortness of breathe after the birth of her first child, is presented. She was prescribed beclomethasone, two puffs (80 [mu]g per puff) twice a day, and an albuterol inhaler to use as an as-needed rescue treatment.
