RoSPA in Scotland
Article Abstract:
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in Scotland is involved with designing industry specific safety courses, giving support to voluntary groups and running training courses on home and road safety. Some 4,000 people die annually from accidents in the home in Scotland, where it is the primary cause of death for those aged between one and 39 years. The Society also works closely with local authorities providing information about home safety for the public. The Society also publicizes the problem of traffic accidents on Scottish roads, where one person dies each day.

Passwords: the new two part NEBOSH National Diploma
Article Abstract:
The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health have introduced a two part Diploma, in which students will study a newly devised syllabus. The Diploma comprises of a mixture of written examinations and project work which are assessed by training providers. Students can take up to three years to complete their assessments before taking each examination. Those already studying the old syllabus have until Dec 1999 to complete their course. The new diploma has been introduced to make the course more relevant and to improve the quality of health and safety training.
