Sam Ho, MD Idealist, Innovator, Entrepreneur

Article Abstract:

Sam Ho, recalls his career as a practitioner of public health. Ho is vice president and corporate medical director of PacifiCare Health Systems in Santa Ana, California, which provides health care to 3.8 million people in 11 states and Guam. Born in the 1950s in Honolulu, Hawaii, he received his medical degree at Tufts University. He began his residency in family medicine at San Francisco General Hospital in 1976. After that, he helped establish the San Francisco Family Health Programs and introduced one of the first HMO contracts to St Luke's Hospital.

Eugene McGregor, MD: a legacy of general practice

Article Abstract:

Eugene McGregor, MD, describes his early life in Lisbon, New Hampshire, his medical training, Army service, and return to Lisbon to open a general practice medical office. In practice 40 years, he dealt with all manner of medical maladies and people of all kinds as a small-town country doctor.

Responding to the global HIV/AIDS crisis: A peace corps for health

Article Abstract:

The U.S. health professionals are taking active part in responding to the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. The programs like the U.S. Global Health Service will have a huge impact on other health professionals and organizations to respond immediately to HIV/AIDS patients in developing countries.
