Sealant use and placement techniques among pediatric dentists

Article Abstract:

The use of pit and fissure dental sealants varies substantially, according to a survey of 848 dentists and 47 dental schools. These sealants are spread over teeth in an attempt to prevent cavities. The survey found that dentists vary over the patient selection, tooth selection, placement technique, surface preparation, sealant materials, and success rate.

Knowledge of oral cancer risk factors and diagnostic concepts among North Carolina dentists

Article Abstract:

Survey results on dentistsE knowledge of oral and pharyngeal cancer risk factors and diagnostic methods are presented. About 31 percent of dentists had medium to high knowledge levels on both the concepts. The need for more educational programs to increase dentistsE knowledge is suggested.

Article Abstract:

Survey conducted among Iowa general dentists, to determine practice, dentist and patient characteristics associated with general dentists' likelihood of referring children aged 3 to 5 years to pediatric dentists, is presented.
