Simulation training in the obstetrics and gynecology clerkship

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of obstetrics simulator training for medical students is determined by comparing measures of confidence in normal obstetrics skills of students with and without training. The students who practiced deliveries on an obstetrics simulator have reported higher levels of confidence in their skills to perform vaginal deliveries.

Article Abstract:

The teaching quality between obstetrics/gynecology resident and faculty preceptors in ambulatory gynecology, as determined by medical student evaluation, is compared. The residents and faculty contribute important and different aspects of teaching experiences for medical students in ambulatory gynecology.

Gynecologists and obstetricians should become more active in lobbying for women's health care issues. Women are more likely to have problems getting health care in the era of managed care.
