Stem cell mobilization by beta2-agonists
Article Abstract:
Stem cells are mobilized from the bone marrow to the peripheral blood as a source of stem cells for transplantation in cancer and genetic diseases. The granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) suppresses the expression of CXC ligand 12 through the sympathetic stimulation of the peripheral nervous system and the results suggests that pharmacological intervention with beta2-agonists, drugs commonly used to treat asthma, could be used therapeutically to mobilize stem cells.

Monolayered mesenchymal stem cells repair scarred myocardium after myocardial infarction
Article Abstract:
A study to show that the monolayered mesenchymal stem cells have multipotent and self-propagating properties after transplantation into infarcted rat hearts using cell sheet technology was conducted. The monolayered mesenchymal stem cells unlike a fibroblast sheet reversed wall thinning in the scar area and improved cardiac function in rats with myocardial infractions.

Rac GTPases differentially integrate signals regulating hematopoietic stem cell localization
Article Abstract:
The role of the Rho GTPases Rac1 and Rac2 in hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) engraftment and mobilization is examined. The deletion of Rac1 after engraftment does not impair steady-state hematopoiesis and is therefore required for the engraftment phase of hematopoietic reconstitution.
