Structured treatment interruptions in primary HIV-1 infection

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine whether structured treatment interruptions (STIs) can induce anti-HIV immune response and control HIV replication following discontinuation of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in patients with primary HIV infection. The results failed to establish that a significant proportion of patients with primary HIV infection could maintain suppression of viremia after a sequence of HAART/STIs followed by HAART discontinuation.

CCR2B-64I chemokine receptor allele and mother-to-child HIV-1 transmission or disease progression in children

Article Abstract:

Having the CCR2B-64I receptor does not appear to protect children from HIV infection. In a study of 745 children born to HIV-infected women, this receptor was just as likely to occur in HIV-infected children as in non-infected children.

Predictive factors of virologic success in HIV-1-infected children treated with lopinavir/ritonavir

Article Abstract:

The study was aimed to analyze and determine genotypic and pharmacologic predictive factors of virologic success. A prospective genotypic resistance analysis was also performed in patients who experienced virologic failure.
