Article Abstract:
Bodybuilders must exercise caution in taking nutritional supplements. Although some supplements are supported by scientific and empirical data, others are simply overrated. Examples of supplements that have been proven effective are creatine, glutamine, alpha-lipoic acid and phosphatidylserine. On the other hand, chromium and vanadium are two examples of supplements whose nutritional benefits have yet to be backed by good science.

Bodybuilders can maximize the benefits from their training by taking right amounts of protein supplements at the appropriate times. The most critical periods are those before and after a workout and before and after sleeping.
