The advocacy group Alliance to End Childhood Lead Poisoning is discussed, focusing on their work to pass the Residential Lead-Based Paint Poisoning Prevention Act (Title X). The effects of lead-based paint on children and adults are discussed, and web sites with lead poisoning information are listed.

Kids swallowing pennies

Article Abstract:

Professors at Duke University find that pennies minted after 1982 are composed mainly of zinc. When pennies are swallowed by children, these zinc compounds react with stomach acids producing hydrogen gas and zinc chloride, thereby causing stomach ulcers.
