The big squeeze
Article Abstract:
The number of traditional qualified nurses working in UK nursing homes is being reduced in an effort to help the sector reduce costs and prevent ever increasing home closures. Up to 3% of nursing homes close down each year, usually the smaller operators who fail to keep up with interest payments. The sector claims increased financial pressure from local authorities has forced many homes to close down.
