The heart: Part four- advanced practice

Article Abstract:

The common cardiac conditions where nursing input and expertise are essential to optimize patient-focused care are discussed. When a patient has a cardiac abnormality that could affect the normal functioning of the heart an electrocardiogram (ECG) is required, either in the form of continuous three-lead monitoring or a 12-lead tracing.

There can be conflicts between practice environments and managerial structures in the implementation and operation of a system of clinical supervision. These conflicts must be addressed if the morale of nurses is not to be negatively affected.
