Caffeine intake and the risk of first-trimester spontaneous abortion

Article Abstract:

Caffeine may increase the risk of miscarriage in non-smoking pregnant women. This was the conclusion of a study of 562 pregnant women who had a miscarriage and 953 pregnant women who did not. The risk increased as the amount of caffeine ingested increased and the risk of miscarriage only occurred in non-smokers.

Article Abstract:

The chronic use of acetaminophen or aspirin can damage the kidneys, according to a study of 1,898 people. Those who used acetaminophen or aspirin were more likely to develop chronic kidney failure than those who did not.

The influence of gestational age and smoking habits on the risk of subsequent preterm deliveries

Article Abstract:

Women who have had a premature delivery in the past are more likely to have one in the future. In a study of 243,858 Swedish women, women who had a previous premature delivery were between 2 and 12 times more likely to have another one, depending on how premature their baby was in the previous delivery. Women who smoked were also more likely to have a premature delivery compared to those who did not.
