The tobacco buyout and the FDA

Article Abstract:

The separate versions of tobacco legislation that the House and the Senate have attached to the Foreign Sales Corporation Act are being reconciled through a congressional conference committee. Accordingly, the House bill would eliminate all existing restrictions on tobacco growing, making it a free-market system whereas the Senate version has placed some restrictions on future tobacco farming and authorized the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to regulate tobacco industry.
