The use of compound topical anesthetics

Article Abstract:

The history, regulation, recent Food Drug Administration (FDA) warnings and adverse effects of five compound topical anesthetics were reviewed. Anesthetics are found t o be neither FDA regulated nor unregulated, making it possible for some compounding pharmacies to bypass the new FDA drug approval process. With two deaths caused by the use of compund topical anesthetics, the FDA announced that it is strengthening its efforts against unapproved drugs.

Microbial contamination of toothbrushes with different principles of filament anchoring

Article Abstract:

A research paper showing that bacterial adherence to toothbrushes with bundled filaments is inevitable notwithstanding the different methods of anchoring used therein is presented. A new method of toothbrush filament anchoring that can prevent bacterial adherence is examined and suggested by the paper.
