Transvaginal electrical stimulation for female urinary incontinence

Article Abstract:

Some women who are incontinent due to poor muscle control may benefit from using a vaginal electrical stimulation device. One hundred twenty-one women with incontinence due to either poor muscle control or a physical abnormality used functioning or non-functioning vaginal electrical devices for eight weeks. Nearly half of the women with poor muscle control who used functioning devices were no longer incontinent after the study period. The sham devices had no effect on those with poor muscle control. Neither device had any effect on the women with genuine stress incontinence.
