Maintenance of peripheral intravenous catheters
Article Abstract:
Based on the systematic review of research and other evidence, guidelines are provided for infection prevention and control practice for the care of patients with intravenous catheters. For majority of patients, Peripheral Intravenous Catheters (PIC) should be removed every 72 to 96 hours. All aspects of PIC care should be appropriately documented.
