Wake-up call

Article Abstract:

The re-emergence of a more caring nursing relationship with patients is being promoted by nursing professor Jean Watson, who has written a book aimed at the nursing profession called Postmodern Nursing and Beyond. Watson believes nurses are being forced to work too systematically by following rigid guidelines which fail to take into account the needs of patients. She would like to see more nurses performing their profession using instinct and heart-felt enthusiasm for the job, which ultimately is all about caring for patients.

Did nurses aid the Nazis?

Article Abstract:

It is difficult to believe that nurses could have played a role in the mass euthanasia of people in Nazi concentration camps, according to Alison O'Donnell, lecturer in the school of nursing and midwifery at the University of Dundee, Scotland. She is researching this issue. She feels that she now understands the context in which these nurses were forced to work.
