When the trees fall, make sure the fallers stand
Article Abstract:
Logging ranks as one of the most dangerous occupations in the United States. In 1988 alone, statistics reveal that there were 168 fatalities for every 100,000 lumberjacks. Accidents continue to occur despite safety and training programs, advances in safety equipment and the existence of strict federal and state regulations. To further reduce the risks experienced by lumberjacks, companies have introduced novel approaches such as video-training demonstrations and incentive programs.
