Where does the money go? You can't make a good business decision unless you know. Cost accounting can help you find out
Article Abstract:
Cost accounting can help physicians choose how much staffing is needed, set productivity goals and monitor areas that need cost control. Cost accounting is implemented by first identifying general expenses such as rent and payroll costs. Next, the practice is quantified into units such as the number of staff members and patient visits. Then, the practice is divided into expense centers such as registration and profit centers such as physicians. By tracking the practice in this way, areas that are spending too much money can be identified and improved and profit centers can be made as efficient as possible.
