Workers-comp update

Article Abstract:

Some workers compensation insurance companies provide performance guarantees on their services. A performance guarantees refers to a contract provision that shows an insurer's commitment to deliver expected services. Several options regarding performance guarantees are available to employers. The most attractive guarantee option for both employer and insurer is gain sharing because it offers continued economic benefits over a period of several years and provides the employer with a higher level of attention to workers compensation issues.

Pennsylvania safety campaign pays off big: job injuries drop 25 percent in two years

Article Abstract:

Pennsylvania's occupational health and safety laws have succeeded in reducing workers' comp payments and overall workplace accidents in the state. Workplace accidents have dropped 25% between 1995 and 1997 due to laws providing a 5% discount to employers satisfactorily completing a safety certification course. The program has so far translated to reduced workers comp costs of $43 million.

Article Abstract:

Harold H Gardner, charmain of Gardner and Associates Human Capital Research and Education group believes that the workers' compensation system is in crisis due to costs of claims and lost time. He feels that the system needs to be completely re-evaluated, and that businesses should incorporate benefits management with medical and disability programs.
