Nurses would have to stay up to date in the skills required to manage various wounds, be it a surgical site, leg ulcer or self-harm injury, and they have to have the basic understanding of wounds and dressings. Basic wound care knowledge, main dressing, treatment types, development and issues in wound care that are useful to nurses are discussed.
