You can help elderly live without fear

Article Abstract:

Doctors, who may be the sole outside contact of elderly patients, must become involved in diagnosing and preventing abuse. The AMA has issued guidelines to help physicians detect and treat elderly persons suffering from neglect and physical, psychological or financial abuse. The program, part of the AMA Physicians' Campaign Against Family Violence, reminds physicians to order tests if suspicious conditions appear and to intervene with hospitalization if necessary.
