Zoonoses
Article Abstract:
The most common zoonoses, or infectious or parasitic diseases which can be transmitted from animals to humans, include Campylobacter, a common gut organism found in animals, particularly poultry, and Salmonella. These are among a growing number of micro-organisms becoming resistant to antibiotics. The other main zoonosis is E Coli 0157, which can be found in slaughterhouses, open farms and fields where animals have left droppings. Some zoonoses have only a temporary impact, while others, such as Brucellosis, have long term effects.
