Industrial innovation and parallel accounting developments
Article Abstract:
An ongoing research program reveals that changes in accounting practices followed manufacturing innovations during the 1980s and the 1990s. Its empirical findings show that accounting changes share similar features with industrial product innovation such as multidisciplinary teams and improved communication between customers and vendors. In addition, the influence of activity-based costing on business process reengineering is highlighted.

The delicate task of linking industrial R&D to national competitiveness
Article Abstract:
The relationship between US competitiveness and the enactment of R&D-oriented policies is explored. Results reveal that international competitive performance is not determined by R&D alone, although it was found to result in technological innovation and some competitive gains. Other crucial factors which need to be considered to boost competitiveness include total factor productivity and basic research funding.
