Innovating through strategic alliances: moving towards international partnerships and contractual agreements
Article Abstract:
Globalization has spurred more companies to form strategic alliances with companies in other countries. This trend is particularly evident among European and Japanese companies for whom cross-border strategic technology partnering (STP) has become the preferred innovation stratagem. As a rule, small companies are more likely to form alliances than larger ones, mainly because they are less likely to have international units. The use of non-equity arrangements, however, is not linked to size but to sectoral differences in the joint development of high-technology products.

Technical entrepreneurship, strategic awareness and corporate transformation in small high-tech firms
Article Abstract:
The role of the entrepreneur is important in the study of management and growth of small companies particularly those high-technology businesses that have been founded via technical expertise and the realization of a potential for innovation instead of a well-identified market opportunity. A leadership that infuses organizational culture was found to be a major characteristic of successful high-technology companies. Small high-technology firms are likely to fail if the entrepreneur fails to understand that changes in management style are essential to growth.

Technological innovations by SME's in India
Article Abstract:
Small and medium-sized (SME) enterprises in India have very weak linkages with the country's technology providers and are not inclined to enter into subcontracting and ancillarization activities with large Indian firms. However, this situation may change in the future as Indian industry adapts to the demands of globalization. The introduction of new technology, the growth of the knowledge-based sector, and closer coordination with India's world-class universities and research centers may lure more SMEs into the high technology arena.
