Dawn Staley

Dawn Staley is one of the United States best known and most successful female basketball players. While she was selected to represent the United States at the Summer Olympics, held at Athens, Greece in the year 2004, she was also chosen as the U.S. flag bearer for the opening ceremonies, an honor that is conferred on only four other American Women in Olympic history.

Raymond Pettibon

Artist Raymond Pettibon has become internationally renowned for his creation of drawings that place comic-book-style imagery and evocative text fragments. In recognition of Pettibon's body of work, which includes more than 10,000 drawings, and his contribution to American art, the Whitney Museum honored the artist with its 2004 Bucksbaum Award.

Adam Gopnik

Adam Gopnik, a self-described comic-sensational essayist is writing for the New Yorker magazine for almost two decades. While Gopnik's New Yorker writings earned the publication a National magazine Award for essays and criticism in the year 1997, Gopnik was himself honored with a George Polk Award for magazine reporting in the year 1998.
