The Shrine Pool
Article Abstract:
The Shrine Pool is a vernal pool in Cleveland National Forest, California. The pool is a habitat for Parish's meadowfoam, Limnanthes gracilis. The pool was threatened by dumping and off-road vehicles. The Forest Service obtained funding for a fencing project, aided by the California Native Plant Society, and the Shrine Camp manager. The fencing was put up with help from the California Native Plant Society, the Laguna Mountain Volunteer Association and Shrine Camp, with employees from Cleveland National Forest. The site is protected from vehicles and nearby camp sites have been eliminated.
