Vogelstein is a leader in the field of cancer research and his investigation into the genetics of cancer has led to a new area of study. His research into colon cancer has identified a class of genes known as tumor-suppressors. Vogelstein's practice is based at John Hopkins Oncology Center.

Gilbert, Walter

Walter Gilbert was awarded a Noble Prize in chemistry in 1980 for his ingenious work on gene sequencing. Although he worked as CEO of Biogen N.V., a genetic engineering company, its management style did not compare with the lure and excitement of his research laboratory.
