H. Lee Scott, the president and CEO of Wal-Mart began his career in 1979 and worked in a variety of capacities before succeeding David D. Glass in 2000, as the company's chief executive. Under his watch, Wal-Mart, which has nearly 6,500 stores and employs 1.8 million people worldwide, has seen its revenues grow, exceeding $312 billion for 2005, while he has also taken steps to improve Wal-Mart's reputation by donating millions of dollars to charity and disaster-relief efforts.
