Private investments have helped the Florida Department of Transportation construct the Southern Connector Extension (SCE) of the Central Florida GreeneWay around Orlando to forge a fiscal and political link with the Osceola Parkway. This joint public/private venture gives the state ownership, maintenance, and operation rights of SCE, besides the retention of the toll revenues. Private investors benefit from access to the infrastructure required to develop their private properties without maintenance issues.
