Lara Logan's steady and remarkable work in print, radio, and television for more than decade came to sudden prominence in 2001 during her coverage of the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan which won her Gracie Awards for the best news story on CBS news radio. Some of her other work include intifada (Palestinian uprising) winning her a Gracie Allen Award, CBS News 60 Minutes, and her coverage on invasion of Iraq by U.S.-led forces in 2003.

Alison Gopnik, a pioneer in the field of cognitive psychology, made several fundamental discoveries about the development of infants' thinking processes and how these change as the children gather more knowledge about their worlds. Gopnik believes the extended daily interaction between a baby and a devoted caregiver, involving activities such as play and speech, are more valuable stimulants than objects such as flashcards.
