Trent Lott is the majority leader of the Senate, a position to which he was promoted in Jun 1996, when Bob Dole resigned to run for president. Lott represents Mississippi and has been influential in changing the direction of the Senate to be more conservative. He was elected to Congress in 1972.

Burton, Dan

Dan Burton was an insurance salesman before he entered politics. He was voted to the Indiana House of Representatives in 1967. Burton is most famous for his controversial move to release transcripts and tapes of Pres Bill Clinton's telephone conversation with Webster Hubbell.
