Kary B. Mullis became famous in the field of DNA research when he created a technique known as the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The PCR technique allows for the quick synthesizing of billions of copies of a segment of DNA. The PCR discovery helped earn him a 1993 Nobel Prize for chemistry.

Oe, Kenzaburo
