Article Abstract:
During 1992 93, 538 people had major eye injuries, with 17 people losing sight in at least one eye, while at work. The number of eye injuries which resulted in an absence of work of over three days totalled 3,000. Eyes can be damaged by impact hazards, such as airbourne or flying particles; allergies; or burns. Details of various safety regulations which cover workplace eye care and protection are given, along details of some of the disorders which can affect the eyes.
