Jawed Karim, Steve Chen, and Chad Hurley, frustrated by their inability to share home video clips over the Internet, started YouTube in 2005, which soon became the most popular video Web site on the Internet. Google bought YouTube in 2006 for US$1.6 billion in stock, and the three founders became millionaires and Internet celebrities almost overnight.

Lee Teng-hui

Lee Teng-hui succeeded Chiang Ching-kuo as president of Taiwan upon his death in 1988. Lee has been a strong supporter of his predecessor's policy of leading Taiwan toward democracy from China. Born in 1923 in a rural village of Taiwan, he is the country's first native-born leader.
