Apache country peridot

Article Abstract:

The Peridot Mesa in the middle of the San Carlos Indian Reservation located in eastern Globe, AZ, is rich in peridot. The gemstones were left in the site thousands of years after a period of volcanic activity.

A mine worth its salt

Article Abstract:

The underground salt mine in Wieliczka, Poland features chambers carved out of the solid salt walls. The mine is also a site for a small chapel which is devoted to the memories of several Polish nobility.

Throne for a loop

Article Abstract:

The Stone of Destiny which is on display in Edinburgh is said to be the ancient throne of the kings of Scotland. However, it may be a fake hastily carved to surrender to Edward I in the 13th century.
