Conventional methods for altering jewelry surfaces have been replaced by less expensive, faster and safer techniques. Etching, wood burning and faux finishing methods that can change the appearance of wood, glass and metal are explained.

Procedures in making a layered clay brooch is presented. Some considerations in assembling the brooch include the weight and shape of each piece. Each piece must be offsetted by other beads to give the brooch visual and physical balance.

A case for a basket
Article Abstract:
A pendant can be made using a piece of an old basket, a jewelry chain and a clay. The clay is shaped to form a border around the basket fragment and holes are made on corners of the piece to which the chain can then be attached.
