Article Abstract:
In the 19th century covers with advertisement were in use. Discussed are the covers of a soap company based in Philadelphia, Dobbins Soap Manufacturing. Two examples are shown. One is a racially misleading attempt to degrade an African American laundress. A later example is sedate.

Air racing around the world in the 1930s
Article Abstract:
A history of post-Charles Lindbergh flights around the world is recounted. Some of the successful flyers are described included Wiley Post and later Howard Hughes, and their records are enumerated. Collectors value the souvenir covers from these flights.
