Dewees Cochran: doll artist of America's children

Article Abstract:

Dewees Cochran was an American artist in Europe whose career was cut short by the Depression. She returned to the US to work as a window dresser, and began designing dolls based on six facial types she observed. The history of her historic, valuable works is detailed.

Curious Collector: investigating modern doll treasures

Article Abstract:

Doll clubs and used-book dealers are good sources for doll collectors to find books on antique dolls. African-American 'Ginny' dolls, Madame Alexander 'Binnie Walkers', Arranbee 'Nancy Lee' composition dolls, and cloth Allwin 'Shirley Temples' are also evaluated.
