Gold of Africa
Article Abstract:
Gold of Africa, a museum newly relocated to Cape Town, South Africa preserves and celebrates the golden art and articrafts of Africa's diverse history. Some of the gold ornaments that are displayed in the museum are a gold donut bead, and a gold rhinoceros, shaped out of a single gold sheet with added horns, eyes and tail.

Beads have invaded South Africa and the sheer variety of objects made by beads is appreciable. 'Get wired', an impressive, expanded cottage industry that employs dozens of people makes stuff partly Art Deco, partly Art Nouveau.

Across the Karoo

A search for Permian-age reptile fossils in the Great Karoo area of South Africa is described. Included in the experience was a visit to the Wellwood ranch, one of the world's foremost paleontological sites.
