The use of hammers in the manufacture of jewelry, to raise vessels, form bracelets, size up or round out ring bands, hallmark silver and gold, texture surfaces, and upset rivets is discussed. The different types of hammers based not as much on the shape and size of the hammer but what it is being used for are described.
