The discovery of the Lost Mine of Enchantment in Ruidoso, NM by Joe Dan Lowry is significant to the industry because it meant a connection with the past and the revival of continuity with the past people. The mine's discovery enabled high-quality turquoise to be produced again in New Mexico.
