Article Abstract:
A friend's blindness induced Donald Parkes to develop 'tactile maps' which he presented by pasting microprocessors of musical Christmas cards on an Australian map. This resulted in the production of NOMAD which are talking touch-pad maps. These maps can be used with Braille to enable blind people to tarvel independently.

The kindness of a stranger
Article Abstract:
When six-year-old Sam Dobresk was determined to be out of remission from his leukemia, his doctors recommended a bone marrow transplant. He received the marrow from a stranger in an operation in 1993, and is healthy now. Dobresk met his donor, Barry Bolstad, in 1995.
