Ed Izzo was posthumously inducted to the Academy of Model Aeronautics Hall of Fame Jan 1996. Col Robert Mosher of San Antonio, TX, visited Al Diem in his workshop in Salt Lake City, UT. Bob Cooper is concerned about fin action with his sailplane. Canadian Peter Cary has acquired a 30-year-old Champ.

Clinton DeSoto: an R/C pioneer

Article Abstract:

Clinton DeSoto, who is considered one of the pioneers of modern radio controlled airplane models, started designing his planes in the 1930s. He is famous for his designs of giant-scale model airplanes such as a 14-foot, 35-pound, full-control aircraft which could actually be flown.

The Interceptor MK V was one of the first model airplanes to utilize modern pattern concepts. A brief narrative of the ideas behind the Interceptor and how it was constructed is presented.
