One remarkable opal
Article Abstract:
'Opal Splendor' is a very unusual cat's-eye opal discovered by the stone collector Kerry Massari and mined in Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, and Australia. A natural, translucent opal with a gray body color, the gem weighs 4.59 carats and shows eye or band of light appearing as a closed red eye, an open red eye, a closed rainbow eye and an open rainbow eye.

Opal-logue
Article Abstract:
The largest opalized log in North America was discovered on Jun 1992 at the Royal Peacock Opal mines in Virgin Valley, NV, by Michael Croxwell and a team of prospectors. The log is 35 inches long, 16 inches in diameter and weighs 130 pounds. It is estimated that the log is 30% precious opal.
