The 53-ft trimaran Great American II set a new sailing record by covering the 15,300 miles from San Francisco, CA, to Boston, MA, via Cape Horn in 69 days, 19 hours and 44 minutes. The trip bettered the record set by a 200-ft clipper ship in 1853 by almost one week.
