Ski and float landing gear

Article Abstract:

There are several ways of mounting floats and skis on model airplanes and modellers have a choice between two- and three-ski configurations. Riggings include an elastic band and a stranded wire whose positions should be changed when reconfiguring from two or three skis and vice-versa.

The design and construction of effective landing-gears for model airplanes are discussed. These include how to effect a torsion-bar landing gear support, a discussion of wheel alignment and camber, mounting considerations and a discussion of effective materials for landing gears.

Float flying for fun

Model seaplanes are classified into floatplanes, built by adding floats to land model planes, and flying boats, available in kits or may be built from scratch. Hull or float design should minimize power-robbing water sprays to the propeller.
