Sugilite
Article Abstract:
Sugilite offers a rich purple color admired by jewelers, but it only has a Mohs hardness somewhere between 3 and 5 1/2 which makes it unsuitable for various wear-and-tear jewelry. The colors of sugilite include pink, peach, reddish brown and purple, and the presence richterite can lead to the rare blue sugilite. Other properties of sugilite are discussed.

Green beryl
Article Abstract:
Green beryl is among the wide variety of existing colored beryls, one of the most demanded and colorful gemstones in the world. Beryl is also known as beryllium aluminum silicate, and green beryls can be found in granitic pegmatites in several countries. Other properties of green beryl and beryls in general, as well as its use in jewelry, are discussed.

Totally tubular design
Article Abstract:
Several jewelers are fairly obsessed with tubular design, such as Andy Cooperman whose works are darkly modern yet ancient looking. Belle Brooke Barer is another artist who is into totally tubular design, making small tunnels and spiculae or small needlelike prominences. The tubular design principles of Julie Jerman Melka are discussed as well.
